المريض ع. م. تعرض لإصابة بطلق ناري بحسب قصته المرضيه أدت إلى كسر مهشم في عظمة الساق ..اُجري له تدخل جراحي في احد المراكز حيث تم تركيب جهاز تثبيت خارجي مع أسلاك إلا أن العظم لم يلتئم مع وجود تقيح في منطقة الإصابة وعلى الرغم من وضع المريض على مضادات حيوية… وكان الإجراء التالي المقترح هو بتر القدم المصابة نتيجة استمرار النز القيحي.
وعند مراجعة المريض لمركز العظام بهيئة مستشفى الثورة بتعز تم دراسة الحالة وقرر الفريق الطبي في مركز العظام متمثلاً بـ د. مالك النقيب رئيس قسم العظام و د. فايز ابو جيب استشاري جراحة العظام من سوريا الشقيقة بأن يتم إعطاء المريض فرصة لعمل جراحي رغم تعقيد الحالة قبل أن يتم طرح خيار البتر كخيار أخير كونها حالة نادرة وشاقة.
حيث تم إزالة جميع العظام المتموتة وأخذ عينة للدراسة الزراعية المخبرية لكشف نوع الجرثومة المسببة للالتهاب ومن ثم إجراء تركيب جهاز تطويل العظم إليزاروف Ilizarov apparatus بدراسة دقيقة لتموضع أجزائه على مستوى الساق ومن ثم إجراء خزع للعظم في المستوى أعلى الساق ليتم العمل لاحقا على تزحيل القطعة المتوسطة للأسفل تدريجياً، وتم تخريج المريض بصحة عامة جيدة وعلامات حيوية مستقرة مع قدرته على تحريك أصابعه بعد الجراحة..
يُذكر أن مثل هذه الحالات المعقدة كان المرضى يضطرون إلى السفر إلى الخارج لإجراء مثل هذه العمليات ولكن بفضل الله أجريت خلال الفترة السابقة العديد من الجراحات المعقدة في مركز العظام بهيئة مستشفى الثورة بتعز بمشاركة د. مالك النقيب و د. فايز ابو جيب من سوريا الشقيقة و بمشاركة أخصائيي المركز د. محمد الشرماني و د. عبد الحكيم القباطي.
